October 2024 – From the Vicarage

From the October 2024 Parish Magazine

Dear friends,

A month has gone by since you welcomed Becky and I so wonderfully into your community – thank you so much for such a memorable day.
+Debbie commented on how perfectly the service had gone and how warm and friendly you as a community came across. It is a day that I will always treasure.

In our first month together things have been a little hectic, not least with the Flower Festival. Both Becky and I were so impressed by this event; the flower displays were beautiful and so cleverly thought out. The refreshments were also fabulous, and it was wonderful to see stall holders come and have a successful few days meeting all who came through our doors. Thank you to all those who made this weekend possible, and who worked so hard to make it possible.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll think October is wonderful. I love seeing the nights draw in, finally feeling justified to put the heating on, and use the log burner, cherishing walks through leaves, hearing them crunch under foot, delighting in colder mornings with thin frosts. I really love this time of year. With Daylight Savings Time coming to an end, it is also is a time where I look back to some of the beautiful summer moments and look ahead with excitement to the Advent and Christmas seasons.
If I’m not careful, this wonderful month gets lost in moments of longing for summer and winter…and yet I very much want to savour the flavour of October!

Join me in taking time to notice the subtle changes to our surroundings, and in delighting in them. Being attentive to the world around us is a form of prayer; and one which brings joy and delight as we bask in God’s beautiful creation!

Every Blessing,
Morna
