Life Events

As part of our growing community and being part of daily life in Finedon for nearly 700 years we are proud to play host to your life events.

Life events include Baptisms, Confirmation, Weddings and Blessing as well as Funerals, Interments and Celebrations of Life.

Baptisms

We welcome everyone to have their children christened at St. Mary’s church. Your child is precious to you and precious to God. At Baptism you make a decision to start your child on a journey of faith. During the Christening service your baby will be baptized. In this service parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start their child on a journey of faith and godparents promise help and support. The church also promises to welcome the child and to pray for the family. We also welcome adults who want to be baptized.

The church and the godparents support the family and the child in this decision.

Weddings and Blessings

St. Mary’s welcomes all to marry in our church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church. Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England between a man and a woman take place in the traditional setting of a Church of England church.

Visit this weddings site to check the legal aspects of getting married in church, and find out all about planning your ceremony.

First contact for enquiries regarding available dates and booking should be made to Mrs Joanne Needle.

Funerals

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world.

Everyone is entitled to either a burial service (funeral) or to have their ashes buried in their local parish churchyard by their local parish priest regardless of whether they attended church or not.

If you wish to discuss arrangements for a funeral, internment or celebration of life please contact Rev. Morna. Details can be found on our Contact Us page.

We look forward to hearing from you.
